Testimonials

"I use Online Transcription Services as an overflow or for discrete activities. Using the provided functionality, I was able to configure my Olympus DVR to send the dictations automatically when docked.

I receive the completed documents the same day or early the next morning.  I also submit scanned documents for copy typing.   The transcriptions are returned on my letterhead or my email header or with the firm’s details set out in court documents automatically.

OTS provides me with a fast and inexpensive solution when my secretary is too busy or on vacation. OTS always delivers with speed and good humour."

Transcription Services Pricing

The use of a productivity based pricing system ensures that you pay only for the work performed. Online Transcription Services offers two charging methods, both of which are linked to the amount of work performed NOT the time taken to perform the work.

The transcription industry standard method of charging which is based on the 'transcription line count' usually provides the most cost effective outcome. A 'transcription line' is defined as 65 keystrokes. The cost of the transcription is calculated by performing a character count (including spaces) on the completed document and dividing the result by 65. You are then charged for the number of 'transcription lines' at an agreed per line rate. Effectively you are charged for the number of keystrokes performed by the transcriptionist.

  • We do offer pricing based on the length [duration] of the submitted audio file. This method is usually requested when exact final cost information is required prior to the job being submitted for transcription. If there are pauses or gaps in the recording, or the pace of the dictation is slower than average you will end up paying more using this method of pricing.

Outsourced Transcription vs Inhouse cost?

There are many associated costs to consider above and beyond the base salary when trying to establish the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for an employee. In a modern multi-tasking environment it can also be difficult to identify what percentage of the employees' time is spent on the specific task being analysed.

Many studies and extrapolations have been performed to try and identify the equivalent 'per line' charge associated with using in-house typists. It is accepted that figures around $0.40 per 'transcription line' are on the money. Outsourcing your transcription to Online Transcription Services will cost you only a little over half this! Contact Us now and be pleasantly surprised at how much you can save.

What are the benefits of Outsourcing Your Transcription?

A per line method is not subjective in any way. Regardless of how long it takes to transcribe the dictation the cost of the completed document is directly related to the work performed.

  • You are insulated from variables such as the transcriptionists typing speed.

  • You are not paying for any other work / activities performed concurrently such as answering the telephone and attending to emails.

  • No management overhead, No staff hassles, No equipment upgrades or maintenance and no expensive office real estate.
